Tom Cooper, over at Big Art Mob, has posted photos of a mural I did for the South Station Transportation Building ( read: Bus Station ) here in Boston. Are We There Yet? was installed in 1997. For a couple of years after its installation, I would call up the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) whenever I heard, or saw, that any of the bulbs lighting the mural had blown out. Being a public agency, the MBTA only replaces them when enough of the lights are dark to justify the procedure, which involves a cherry picker and two union guys. Eventually, I got as sick of making the calls as they did of answering them.
